Paintings by Collin Sekajugo and weavings by Acaye Kerunen were on display in the inaugural Ugandan pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2022, which was honored with a Special Mention award.
Kerunen was singled out for exemplifying "sustainable as a practice and not simply a policy or notion" with her use of materials like raffia.
The Venice Biennale Arte, the world's largest and most famous art exhibition, was up on April 23 and will run until November 27 with the subject "The Milk of Dreams." Cecilia Alemani is in charge of the exhibition, and Roberto Cicutto, director of La Biennale di Venezia, is responsible for its organization.
Two Ugandan painters working in the city of Kampala had a show at the Uganda National Pavilion titled "Radiance—They Dream in Time." Stjarna.art's collaboration with the Uganda National Cultural Centre allowed for this to happen (UNCC).
