THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA AS A CREATIVE

Updated: Mar 31

Facilitator: Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo (PhD)

In an age where digital presence defines influence, Kuonyesha Art Fund’s Conversation on "The Power of Social Media as a Creative" with Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo provided artists with essential tools to navigate the digital landscape. With over 70 engaged participants, the session explored how creatives can use social media to amplify their work, shape narratives, and drive impact.

Dr. Spire emphasized that social media is a stage, not a magic wand, it requires strategy, authenticity, and consistency to build a meaningful presence. From storytelling to leveraging humor in difficult conversations, creatives were urged to be intentional about positioning their work while protecting their mental well-being from digital toxicity.

Beyond visibility, social media must translate into real-world influence. Dr. Spire, known for his viral #UgandaExhibition campaign, shared how artists can balance digital engagement with action, turn online conversations into lasting impact, and navigate criticism with wisdom. The session reinforced Kuonyesha Art Fund’s mission to equip artists with the skills to thrive in digital spaces while remaining true to their craft.
